‘Rise Up’ Campaign Challenges Churches to Mobilize Missionaries This Easter

Let’s not just celebrate the resurrection—let’s act on it.

HARRISBURG, PA — The Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE) announces an Easter focus for its Global Gospel Fund, a new opportunity for churches to partner through the “Rise Up: Reaching the Nations This Easter” campaign in March. On Easter Sunday, March 31, participating churches will take up an offering for global missions to support the Global Gospel Fund, a fund pivotal for mobilizing new missionaries and supporting those currently serving around the globe.

Just as Christ rose with all authority, sending his followers to disciple the nations (Matthew 28:18-20), so too the church today is to “rise up” and embrace her call to spread the good news. In keeping with Easter’s focus on the resurrection and the urgency of global missions, ABWE is inviting churches to partner in the advancement of the gospel in tandem with Resurrection Sunday by investing in efforts to mobilize, train, deploy, and support a new wave of missionaries to the lost and unreached.

Paul Davis, president of ABWE, emphasizes the importance of this initiative: “In these times, it’s crucial to harness the rhythms and seasons of local church life to provide strategic opportunities for congregations to engage with the Great Commission. The Global Gospel Fund is a key vehicle for this, empowering believers to spread the gospel globally.”

Duane Early, vice president of Strategic Partnerships, adds, “The ‘Rise Up’ campaign is an exciting step for us, inviting churches to lead their congregations in a special offering to support the mission of the Global Gospel Fund. It’s a timely initiative, aligning with our commitment to send and support workers dedicated to making Christ known among all peoples.”

In the past year, the Global Gospel Fund helped enable 82 new missionaries to join the team. This year, the focus is expanding this reach while continuing to bolster ABWE’s global team of 1,000 missionaries in more than 80 nations in their mission of evangelism, church planting, and disciple-making.

ABWE encourages congregations and individuals to participate in this vital mission. Contributions to the Global Gospel Fund, through one-time gifts or monthly donations, are critical in advancing the gospel among the unreached  and supporting the efforts of current missionaries through vital services.
