Terrible escalation is on the horizon. Israel has called up hundreds of thousands of troops, and a full-scale ground war is becoming more likely with every passing hour.
The death toll has climbed to 1,200, and more than 3,000 people have been wounded. Rocket attacks continue to pour out of Gaza, pelting southern Israel and Tel Aviv with wave after wave of bombardments.
The devastation caused by the rockets is great, but most casualties have come from savage attacks on civilians in their homes, the streets, and at events — anywhere and everywhere terrorists could find to slaughter men, women, children, and infants.
The atrocities are undeniable. The reports of the carnage are horrific. The President of the United States summarized it as such:
Parents butchered using their bodies to try to protect their children. Stomach-turning reports of … babies being killed. Entire families slain. Young people massacred while attending a musical festival to celebrate peace … Women raped, assaulted, paraded as trophies … Infants in their mothers’ arms, grandparents in wheelchairs, Holocaust survivors, abducted and held hostage.
The paramedics and EMTs of MAGEN DAVID ADOM are on the front lines searching for and treating the wounded. Their eyes are seeing things that no person should ever see. They hear cries for help from people with life-threatening injuries, overcome with trauma. But they cannot stop. They cannot slow down. They must work day and night.
