7 Ways Pastors and Spouses Can Find True Friends

Pastors and spouses can find true friends. Really, they can.

Of course, people talk. People gossip. People love to share what they hear. And that’s true of what they hear from a pastor too.

So, if the pastor talks about personal life, shares a concern – heaven forbid shares a sin or weakness – people will talk.

I’ve personally been burned several times by trusting the wrong people with information. It’s wonderful to think a pastor can be totally transparent with everyone, but honestly, especially in some churches, complete transparency will cause you to lose your ministry.

Every pastor knows this well. So, many pastors simply don’t talk – at least not about “real life” stuff. Sadly, in my experience, most pastors I know don’t have any really close friends. And I have a lot of experience dealing with pastors.
